The newly elected MP for Komandoo constituency, Mohamed Rashid has taken the oath of office.
He took the oath at a special ceremony held at the Parliament at 8:30 a.m. this morning in front of the Speaker of the Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed. The oath was read by the Supreme Court Judge, Husnu Suood.
Rashid competed against the PPM candidate, Moosa Fathuhee and the MNP candidate Abdul Hannaan Idrees winning the by-election with 1,401 votes.
Saturday's by-election saw 48.5 percent of the eligible voters casting their votes.
The PPM candidate, Moosa Fathuhee received 1,161 votes that account to 40 percent of the votes while the MNP candidate Abdul Hannaan received 323 votes that accounts for 11 percent.
