Officials have begun counting ballots of the Shaviyani Atoll Komandoo Constituency By-Election, as most of the ballot boxes have closed.
Vice-Chairman of the Elections Commission, Ismail Habeeb confirmed that the ballot counting had begun in a tweet.
The second box from Komandoo and the first box from Foakaidhoo which were the first boxes to be closed.
Habeeb revealed that except for the Komandoo ballot box, all boxes in the capital city have also been closed.
There are two ballot boxes placed in each of the three islands of the constituency, along with three ballot boxes in the capital city which are placed at Iskandhar School.
The Elections Commission also revealed that there are 3,309 eligible voters in Komandoo, Maroshi, and Foakaidhoo. These are all of the constituents who turned 18 years old by February 5th.
