The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the Maldives has risen to 280 after another person has passed away.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that a 72-year-old Maldivian woman passed away at 2:05 p.m. today while undergoing treatment at the COVID-19 treatment facility in Hulhumale'.

Yesterday also saw two people pass way due to COVID-19; a 73-year-old Sri Lankan national being treated at the Hulhumale' COVID-19 Treatment Facility and an 83-year-old local being treated at the COVID-19 Facility at Lhaviyani Atoll Naifaru.

With this most recent death today, a total of 261 locals and 19 foreigners has passed away so far. The highest reported COVID deaths on a single day in the Maldives has been on 25 May 2021 where 13 deaths were reported.

The first COVID-related reported in the country was reported on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old local woman.
