The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 143,202 after another 2,142 people have tested positive.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 771 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 1,053 from the atolls and 48 from the resorts.

In the same time frame, 2,163 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 125,190 with another 17,721 people still in treatment including 62 people in hospitals.

There have been 278 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 259 locals, 19 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
