A Sri Lankan national being treated for COVID-19 in at the Hulhumale' Treatment Facility raising the total no number of COVID-related deaths in the country to 278.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that that a 73-year-old Sri Lankan man passed away at 3:02 a.m. last night.

A 74-year-old old local woman being treated at same treatment facility passed away yesterday as well.

With this most recent death today, a total of 258 locals and 19 foreigners has passed away so far. The highest reported COVID deaths on a single day in the Maldives has been on 25 May 2021 where 13 deaths were reported.

The first COVID-related reported in the country was reported on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old local woman.
