The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 138,880 after another 2,754 people have tested positive.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 1,407 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 962 from the atolls and 48 from the resorts.

In the same time frame, 2,572 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 120,821 with another 17,770 people still in treatment including 63 people in hospitals.

There have been 276 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 258 locals, 18 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
