Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has said that Shaviyani Atoll Foakaidhoo Harbor Development Project Is well underway with 56 percent completed.

Taking to Twitter this morning, MTCC said that the first shipment of the precast concrete blocks for the quay wall construction was delivered to the project site five days ago.

The project entails dredging 39,995 cubic meters for the harbor basin from the old 1,800 cubic meter basin.

It also entails dredging 4,000 cubic meters at the port entry, 507 meters of outer sea wall, 100 meters of revetment, 464 meters of inner sea wall and 2,320 square meters of pavement along with the installation of the harbor and port lights.

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to MTCC for MVR 52.7 million. The largest excavator in the MTCC fleet is being utilized for the project.
