Male' City Council has decided to pursue legal action against the government for a lack of response regarding the revising of the Gulhifalhu Project to provide housing.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Male' City Council today.

Speaking at the meeting, Male' City Mayor, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the City Council does not support the government's policy on Gulhifalhu.

He has previously said that multiple letters have been sent to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih regarding the Gulhifalhu Project and there had been no headway.

The City Council said that they want the Gulhifalhu to be a housing project but the government has decided to built a port at Gulhifalhu and connect Gulhifalhu, Thilafushi, Vilimale' and Male' with a bridge.

The Mayor has previously said that they would be pursuing legal action if no progress is made regarding Gulhifalhu.

Mayor Dr. Muizzu said that they would go to court of there is no other choice and he does not really want to take the issue to court.
