Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said that rapid test results would not be accepted for traveling between the islands and releasing from quarantine.

The HPA Media Official said today that the rapid tests are done for those who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 and the rapid tests done by those who aren't exhibiting symptoms may not be accurate. And antigen may not be found by someone without symptoms so those completing quarantine needs to do the RT PCR test.

Sample collection centers in the Male' City area has started doing rapid antigen tests yesterday. The rapid testing is also abaitat Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and some clinics.

The rapid antigen test yields results in 15 minutes. This method of testing has been utilized in some developed countries for some time now.
