President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has declared February 3rd as a Public Holiday.

The President's Office revealed that President Solih has decided that the day Parliament reconvenes for the first session of the year will be a public holiday. Hence, they noted that February 3rd is now a public holiday.

The sitting will be inaugurated by Speaker of Parliament and Former President Mohamed Nasheed after which the presidential address will be delivered.

According to Article 84 of the Maldives constitution, “at the beginning of the first session of each year at the first sitting, the President shall address the People’s Majlis on the state of the country, and may present proposals for improving the state of the country to the People’s Majlis.”
