President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Saturday has tested positive for Covid-19.

The President had confirmed the news via Twitter.

In his tweet, the President noted that he has tested positive for Covid-19 which he found out following a PCR test conducted ahead of a trip to the atolls.

While President Solih has tested positive for Covid-19, First Lady Fazna Ahmed had also tested positive previously.

President Solih has completed both dozes of the vaccine and had recently gotten the booster shot as well.

President's Office noted that the President is in good health and in isolation at his official residence, Mulee’aage.

The Covid-19 situation in Maldives has been worsening in recent days, with daily positive cases soaring above 1,500.
