Fenaka Corporation has signed a contract with a company to install solar panels at the Gan International Airport and make the airport solely run on renewable energy.
The agreement was signed with Clear Future Synergy to install a solar grid that can produce 4.5 megawatts of energy.
The project entails install a grid of 2.5 megawatts at the Gan Airport to ensure 100 percent of the energy requirements are self sustainable.
Fenaka Corporation said that by rheend of the project, Gan International Airport will be the first solar powered airport in the country.
The company said that the grid to be installed near Hulhumeedhoo, Addu City, is set to power nearby resorts as well.
