The total number of COVID-19 related to the Maldives has risen to 225 after the second Covid death today.

The first COVID-related death today was that of a 64-year-old man from Laamu Atoll Fonadhoo that was being treated at the Laamu COVID Facility, reported at 6:04 a.m.

The second death today is also a person from Fonadhoo; a 63-year-old woman that was being treated at the Hulhumale' COVID Facility. She is a high-risk patient that was being treated for cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure and she passed away at 6:12 a.m.

With these recent deaths, a total of 249 locals and 18 foreigners have passed away in the Maldives due to COVID-19.

The highest reported COVID deaths on a single day in the Maldives has been on 25 May 2021 where 13 deaths were reported.The first COVID-related reported in the country was reported on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old local woman.
