The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 108,732 after another 2,137 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 1,219 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 547 from the atolls and 89 from the resorts.

In the same time frame, 642 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 98,880 with another 9,574 people still in treatment including 43 people in hospitals.

There have been 266 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 249 locals, 17 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
