The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 106,595 after another 1,594 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 857 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 438 from the atolls and 118 from the resorts.
In the same time frame, 508 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 98,238 with another 8,079 people still in treatment including 40 people in hospitals.
There have been 265 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 248 locals, 17 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
