Health Protection Agency (HPA) has banned events with more than 50 people in Male' City Area, amid rising numbers of Covid-19.
HPA noted that the ban comes after the 'Omicron' variant was discovered in Maldives, with recent case numbers surging following the discovery of the mutant.
As such, HPA notes that they have decided to take the following precautionary measures in Male' Area:
- Ban on events and celebrations with more than 50 people
- Events with less than 50 people having to comply with HPA guidelines
- Ban of night markets
- Ban on spectators during sports matches
The past few days have posted increased numbers of covid cases in Male' area, with 101 cases recorded in the area yesterday alone.
HPA has also imposed mandatory PCR testing for all those traveling from Male' area, with non-vaccinated travellers requiring a 14 day quarantine.
