Minister of Communications Science and Technology Mohamed Maleeh Jamal has said that the hope is to conduct research for future generations and to share findings if the research with the world.
The Minister said this while speaking at the inaugural session launching Ministry of Communication, Science and technology-initiated Sci-tech lecture series last night.
Minister Maleeh said that the lecture series will provide vital information for many who are currently active in various fields in Maldives, in addition to just the youth.
The Minister said that the session last night would highlight a variety of topics including benefits and disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as well as future issues that may be faced by humankind.
Maleeh said that sessions conducted by foreign professors like this current session would serve to benefit students and youth as well as many who are active within this field as well.
The Minister noted that most places around the world charge a fee for such sessions. He said that he urges that many would attend Sci-tech lectures in the future.
The first lecturer at Sci-tech session was American Professor, Muhammad Aurangzeb Ahmad. The professor spoke to press and said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will impact many daily activities.
The professor noted the possibility that an IA machine can be established in Maldives in the future, to assess the progress of fisheries in Maldives.
Professor Ahmed also said that IA would allow the government to project predictions on various issues that will take place in the future. As such, he noted that the technology is able to process several data at the same time to bring about these predictions.
