Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has said that they have commenced Aggregate Base Course (ABC) works in the second phase of the Raa Atoll Dhuvaafaru Road Construction Project.
Taking to Twitter today, MTCC said that the ABC works began on 8 January 2022.
The ABC layer is a sub-base layer before the asphalt layer.
Dhuvaafaru Road Development Project entails the development of nine roads totaling 17,790 square meters of asphalt, 6,923 square meters of foot traffic area, a water drainage system and the installation of street lamps and traffic signs.
The project is contracted to MTCC for MVR 37.8 million. The first phase of the project was completed on 31 October 2021.
MTCC is also running a land reclamation project and a beach protection project in Dhuvaafaru. And so, 22.2 hectares of land is set to be reclaimed with 423 meters of large stone revetment along with the development of 70 meters of outer sea wall.
