Male' City Council has granted the permission to hold the Night Market in a decision reversing the order from the Health Protection Agency (HPA) to close down the night Market due to the rising cases of COVID-19.
A statement issued by the Council last night said that following an announcement by the Council, those who have requested the permission to hold a Night Market have been granted the permit to hold Markets at select areas of Male' and Hulhumale'.
However, the Night Markets were closed down after an order from the HPA due to COVID-19 cases in the capital after many had made large investments for the Night Market.
And so, due to the requests of many to resume the Night Market, HPA has approved to hold the Night Market in the same way as general sales at the shops. The City Council said that they are giving the permits to hold the Night Market to those that agree to hold it within the HPA guidelines.
Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the capital, HPA ordered the closing of the Night Market yesterday. HPA also banned large gatherings and events in Hulhumale' as well.
