The new VIP Terminal developed at Velana International Airport is set to be opened tomorrow.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has previously been preparing to open the terminal on 12 January but an Official from MACL told ONE Online today that the first phase of the VIP Terminal will be opening and operational tomorrow. And with it, all operations at the old VIP Terminal will be moved to the new terminal.
The official said that the second phase of the development is pending and a mobilization date is yet to be announced.
The new VIP Terminal is developed behind the current VIP Terminal by the Chinese company, Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG).
The new four-story terminal has private cabins and check-in counters for customers who want privacy.
The VIA development project inaugurated by the previous government is valued at USD 1 billion. A 3,400 meter long runway valued at USD 373 million was developed at the airport.
