Male' City Council has decided to develop vehicle charging stations in various parts of Male' City.
The decision was made at a Council meeting today during the debate on the proposed development of vehicle charging stations in the city, presented by a private company named Golden Lake.
During the debate, the Deputy Mayor, Ahmed Nareesh said that it's not the best decision to lease land to certain companies to develop charging stations. Instead, it's better for the Council to develop them for public use.
The Deputy Mayor proposed to develop charging stations that would be regulated by the Council and get the profit by having them in certain areas of Male', Vilimale' and Hulhumale'. That proposal was passed by the Council.
However, the project is set to be carried out after a survey and a plan by the Transport Committee of the Council identifying the locations to develop the charging stations are presented to and passed by the City Council.
