China has said that the relationship it has established with the Maldives has yielded mutually beneficial results.
Taking to Twitter to mark 50 years of bilateral relations between the two countries, the Chinese Embassy in the Maldives said that the two countries have enjoyed mutual understanding and support, treated each other as equals and achieved win-win outcomes.
China and Maldives established diplomatic relations on 14 October 1972. And in 2007 and 2011 respectively, Maldives and China set up Embassy in each other’s capital.
The Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi is set to make a two-day visit to the Maldives on Friday upon the invitation of the Maldivian Foreign Minister, Abdulla Shahid who extended the invitation during his visit to China last month.
Minister Shahid is set to accompany the Chinese Foreign Minister on this visit and the two will be meeting the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as well.
