COVID death in Addu raises total to 263 nationwide

Total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the Maldives has risen to 263 after a COVID-related death in Addu City.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that an 82-year-old man has passed away at the COVID Management Facility in Addu City around 2:30 a.m. last night.

Addu Equatorial Hospital said that the man passed away at 9:30 p.m. last night. The highest number of COVID-19 related deaths outside of the capital has been at Addu City.

With this most recent death, the total number of COVID-related deaths in the country has risen to 263 and now consists of that consists of 246 locals and 17 foreigners.

The highest number of COVID deaths were reported in the country in May 2021 where 13 deaths were reported on the 25th alone.

The first COVID-related death was reported on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
