A regulation has been changed allocating 60 pieces of land in Hulhumale' Phase 2 to be sold to those registered in Male' City.

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) initially announced on 27 December 2021 that any Maldivian citizen would be able to buy land through a bid process.

However, a change was made on Thursday night stating that the lands could only be bought to those from Male'.

The eligibility to buy land from Phase 2 on this round of sales are:

  • A Maldivian citizen registered in Male'
  • Over the age of 18
  • Not have a land or property registered in the Male' Area that exceeds 600 square feet
  • Not have a registered living space of 600 square feet of a land distributed among many
  • First time buyer of land via bid through HDC

HDC said that they would be selling 26 lands from the beach front and 34 lands from the beach side sizing between 1,603.07 and 2,633.93 square feet.

Bids open on 9 February along with bid submission up to 16 February while the information regarding the bid process is going to be handled via email.

Beach front and beach side land purchases carry a bid security of MVR 320,000.
