President: There are those who the housing situation in Male' and try to gain political benefit

Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed has said that there is a group of people that are aware of the housing situation in the capital and exploits that for a political gain.

Speaking at the ceremony to contract water and sewerage projects for the islands lacking the facilities, the President said that the housing situation in Male' City is indeed a crisis but there are those trying to make a political issue.

The President promised a solution to the housing crisis in the capital and there is a housing project to house 5,000 along with another project similar to Hiyaa.Project.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has put up land for sale from Hulhumale' Phase two which has been met with harsh criticism. Many are calling to change the policy including the former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
