Government Coalition's Adhaalath Party has said that the "India Out" campaign being run by the former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is going to isolate the Maldives on the international stage and cause irreparable damage to the public.

A statement issued by the the party today condemned the movement stating that it is playing with the public opinion.

The statement said that the basic goals of the Maldivian foreign policy should be to ensure the safety and security of the Maldivian people and being in the Indian Ocean, at the time where the importance of the region is rising, the Maldives need to protect its trade and economic interests in the region through regional stability.

Adhaalath Party said that separatist thinking at the time where the whole world is connected is not the best approach to protect the national interests. Instead, the country needs to work together with its neighbours to ensure a higher quality of life for its people.

The party said that the ongoing strategic cooperation between India and the Maldives is the result of an old, long-term friendship between the two countries and the efforts being threatened by the opposition movement was founded during the presidency of Abdulla Yameen.

The press statement said that the "India Out" movement is a henious attempt to play with the opinions of the public as a means to achieve a political motive.

Adhaalath Party assured the public that they would stand against any destabilisation of the freedom and sovereignty of the country as part of the government coalition.
