Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to travel to the Maldives on a State Visit from December 22nd to December 23rd.

The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of the President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih extended during his State Visit to Bangladesh in March 2021.

During this visit, Maldives and Bangladesh would hold official talks between the two governments, and a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) would be signed.

Fisheries, human resources, and education are among the key areas the two countries enjoy close cooperation in. The numerous high-level exchanges between the two countries would deepen existing ties and further strengthen bilateral relations.

The Maldives and Bangladesh established diplomatic relations on September 22, 1978.
