Following the suspected involved of the Youth Minister, Ahmed Mahloof and the State Minister at the Planning Ministry, Akram Kamaaluddeen, the President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has relieved them from official duties.

Spokesperson of the President, Ibrahim Hoodh, told One Online that the President has asked the Sports Minister and the State Minister to take leave until the end of the investigation.

In a tweet sent out by Minister Mahloof, he confirmed the suspension stating that he respects the President's decision and would take a leave until the investigation regarding the USD 33,000 into his account from SOF is completed.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) issued a report regarding the corruption of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) show that political figures who received money from SOF company include the State Minister at the Planning Ministry, Akram Kamaaluddeen as well. The report said that USD 30,000 were deposited to his account from the SOF company.

Apart from the names previously mentioned, Deputy Spokesperson of Parliament and MP for Hulhuhenveyru Constituency, Moosa Manik (Reeko), has also been shown to have affiliations with SOF according to the ACC report along with the MP for Guraidhoo constituency, Hussain Manik Dhon Manik and the MP for Viluffushi constituency, Riyaz Rasheed.
