Ibrahim Shakeel has resigned as a member of Anti-Corruption Commission today.

An extraordinary sitting of the parliament was held today where the report sent by the Independent Institutions Committee regarding the initiation of the process to dismiss ACC members was read. The decision comes after a performance report by the Audit Office noted that the ACC was particularly ineffective in their work.

At today’s session ACC member Ibrahim Shakeel’s resignation letter was announced in the parliament, leaving three commission members.

Currently, there are three ACC members in office who will be dismissed by the parliament. They are; ACC’s President Mariyam Shiuna, Vice President Fathimath Anoola and Member Aishath Abdulla.

Ali Ashraf, who was also serving as a member had resigned earlier amidst the performance audit.
