President of Women in Maldives (WIM) and Chairperson of One Online, Minha Faiz Rashad on Wednesday stated that women are capable of doing anything if presented with the right opportunities.

She made the remarks while addressing the Professional and Career Women Awards 2021 ceremony held at Hotel Jen on Wednesday evening.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minha highlighted that women play a pivotal role in national development and stressed that the number of opportunities that are available for women need to be increased.

She also noted that the Covid-19 Pandemic had put women and their roles into the spotlight, and added that frontline staff battling the pandemic consisted mainly of women. She also added that while businesses closed their doors during the peak of the pandemic, women across the nation were finding creative and innovative entrepreneurial opportunities while at home.

Minha further stressed that women need to be made part of the decision-making process and that it's essential to have women fill in senior positions at government companies.

She also stated that hard-working women are always recognized and valued, and added that the main objective of Professional and Career Women Awards was to do so.
