President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has declared additional government holidays for the year 2022, in a directive issued by the President’s Office today.

The President’s Office said the President has added four more holidays to the next year.

According to the next year's calendar, 2 May falls non Eid ul-Fitr and 5 May have been made a holiday as well creating a nine-day government break from 29 April to 7 May.

With the weekends, a nine-day government holiday has been created around the Eid ul-Adha as well. The Eid falls on 8 July, a Friday and the five adjacent holidays end on a Tuesday. However, President Solih has declared that 13 and 14 July as holidays next year creating a longer break.

The newly added holidays for 2021 are:

  • 5 May 2022 (Thursday)
  • 13 July 2022 (Wednesday)
  • 14 July 2022 (Thursday)
  • 28 July 2022 (Thursday)
