Dhaalu Atoll Kudahuvadhoo has been placed under monitoring status again.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) today said that the island was placed under monitoring to the relevant inquiries regarding COVID-19.
President of the Kudahuvadhoo Island Council, Ibrahim Fikuree told ONE Online that the island has been placed under monitoring as the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 is increasing. He said that the most recent cluster is at the island's school.
Council President Fikuree said that so far 328 random samples are being collected and 72 samples have tested positive. With 72 people tested positive, 25 residential houses have been quarantined as well.
Fikuree said that the people of the island no longer want to give samples for tested despite being direct contacts this increasing the number of positive cases.
HPA said that people aren't allowed to visit the island with HPA approval and anyone on the island has to remain there until further notice.
A 93-year-old local man passed away at the Kudahuvadhoo Hospital while under going treatment.
