Talks have commenced between Maldives and Saudi Arabia on expanding cooperation in the field of commerce and trade.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, met with the Minister of Commerce and Investment of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, as part of his ongoing visit to Saudi Arabia.

At the meeting held at the Ministry of Commerce and Investment in Saudi Arabia, discussions were held on both nations working together and cooperating in the area of business. As such, talks were held on conducting a networking forum between Maldivian businesses and businesses in Riyadh.

Minister Shahid also thanked Minister Al Qasabi for the generous assistance Saudi Arabia continues to provide to the developmental projects of Maldives.

In addition, the Secretary of Policy at the Maldivian President’s Office Aminath Shauna as well as Additional Secretary Ahmed Shiaan accompanied the Foreign Minister at the talks. Various senior officials at the Maldivian Embassy at Saudi Arabia also took part in the talks yesterday.
