Maldives Police Service has announced that they would be releasing information on the murder of 57-year-old Mahmood Abubakuru who was brutally killed and dumped inside a well at an abandoned house in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll Dhangethi.

Police said that the information will be given at a press conference at 3:45 p.m. today at the Iskandharu Building.

Information is set to be given by the Head of Major Crimes, Chief Superintendent, Hassan Shifau and the Head of Serious and Organised Crime Department of the Police, Superintendent Hassan Saeed.

Mahmood was found dead inside the well during a search for him when he disappeared after watching the SAFF Championship football tournament match on 14 October 2021.

Police arrested a Bangladeshi national named Alom Mia Saamil in connection to the crime and the court has ordered him in to remand until the end of the trial.

A search warrant of the suspect's residence was executed to find some material evidence including Mahmood's ID Card and phone.

The Police has previously said that they do not believe anyone else was involved in the crime.
