Committee investigating awarding of flats in the previous administration has announced that flat under housing project had been awarded to those that earn MVR 85,000 as an income.  

These findings were gathered by the committee assembled by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on investigating issues with housing projects. Member of Committee, Fathimath Rasheeda, spoke at a press conference revealing the findings and said that the MVR 85,000 was earned by a family of a married couple.

Rasheeda revealed that a flat was awarded to the couple under the “Hiya” housing project of former President Yameen’s administration.

The member of the Committee said that there was no information recorded within the sections asking applicants to reveal condition of living. The condition of living section in the application form had however been awarded full marks, according to Rasheeda.

She said that it should be noted that many with worse living conditions had also submitted forms for housing project.

Committee member Fathimath Rasheeda announced that evaluation of forms submitted to acquire flats are currently ongoing.
