Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid has departed on an official visit to Saudi Arabia.

While the Minister has left today, this is the first ever visit to Saudi arabia since being appointed for the Cabinet of Ministers.

Minister Shahid is set to meet the Minister of  Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Assaf as well as various other senior officials of the country’s government. The Maldivian Ministry of Foreign affairs has announced that talks will be held during this visit regarding strengthening ties between both nations. Additionally, the Ministry has also reported that discussions will be held regarding Saudi Arabia’s assistance to Maldives in developmental areas.

The Secretary of Policy at the President’s Office Aminath Shauna as well as Additional Secretary Ahmed Shiaan from Ministry of Foreign Affairs are accompanying Minister Shahid on the visit.
