The national debt of the Maldives has risen to MVR 95.4 billion.

Statistics on the National Debt released by the Ministry of Finance and National Treasury based on the information gathered up to 30 September 2021 show that as of the third quarter of this year, along with the guarantee provided, is at 95.4 billion.

Among that, the foreign debt is at 47.5 billion and the internal debt at 47.9 billion.

As for the debt where a guarantee was provided, the amount has risen to 18 billion as of the third quarter; a 1.9 billion reduction compared to the forth quarter of the previous year.

The national debt is at 124 percent based on the GDP. And the foreign debt is 62 percent and internal debt is at 62 percent based on the GDP.
