A small child being treated for COVID-19 at the Hulhumale' Facility has passed away.

ONE Online has learned that a two-month-old boy passed away at 12 p.m. today while undergoing treatment.

This most recent death also marks the youngest COVID-related death in the country. Previously, the youngest was a ten-year-old.

The COVID-19 death toll in the country has now risen to 247 and consists of 230 locals and 17 foreigners.

The highest number of COVID deaths were reported in the country in May 2021 where 13 deaths were reported on the 25th alone.

The first COVID-related death was reported on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
