President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the First Lady, Fazna Ahmed have returned to the Maldives after concluding their two-day official trip to Sri Lanka.

On this trip, President Solih officiated the opening ceremony of the "Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy 2021" football tournament. The Maldives played against Sri Lanka in the opening match of the tournament, participated by national football teams from the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Seychelles.

The President attended the official luncheon hosted by Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa and conversed with him on topics of mutual interest.

President Solih also met with the President of Sri Lanka, H.E. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and held an extensive discussion on a wide array of subjects of mutual interest and reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening Maldives-Sri Lanka cooperation in the coming years.

The President and First Lady were accompanied on this visit by a high-level Maldivian delegation.
