Two months before the end of the year, Maldives has achieved one millionth tourist arrival.

The one millionth tourist to visit the Maldives is a French couple that was visiting the Maldives for the 20th time.

A special ceremony was held at Velana International Airport to celebrate the one millionth tourist arrival. They were welcomed with a traditional cultural welcome with numerous gifts including a holiday visit.

Tourism Ministry along with other industry stakeholders hold a special ceremony to welcome the one millionth tourist every year. The government's goal this year was to bring in one million tourists.
