Another person has passed away due to complications with COVID-19 raising the total number of COVID-related deaths to 241.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that an 86-year-old local man being treated at the Addu COVID Facility passed away at 12:10 a.m. last marking the seventh COVID death from Addu City.

With this most recent death, the total COVID death toll in the country is at 241 that includes 224 locals and 17 foreigners.

The highest number of COVID deaths were reported in the country in May 2021 where 13 deaths were reported on the 25th alone.

The first COVID-related death was reported on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
