The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 86,165 after 77 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 25 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 37 from the atolls and 09 from the resorts.

In the same time frame, 40 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 84,627 with another 1,287 people still in treatment.

There has been 238 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 221 locals, 17 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
