The national social health insurance scheme, Aasandha, has spent a total of MVR 1.1 billion to date this year.
Statistics published by the Ministry of Finance revealed that MVR 828 million was spent for healthcare through Aasandha for the same period last year. The current year has seen an MVR 281 million increase in the expenditure.
In addition to Aasandha, MVR 4.1 billion has been spent by the government in the form of subsidies and other financial assistance.
Staistics reveal that MVR 22.6 billion has been spent by the government so far this year. In addition to this MVR 14.9 billion has been received in foreign aid this year.
Covid1-19 has also brought increased spending in healthcare. While the state budget has allocated MVR 2.3 billion for healthcare services, MVR 1.8 billion has already been spent so far.
