In a joint operation involving multiple departments of the Maldives Police Service, ten people have been arrested with 100 kgs of heroin.

Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed announced on Twitter today that he had been following a well executed joint counter-narcotics trafficking operation in the last 24 hours, by officers from Drug Enforcement Department, Drug Intelligence, Marine Police and Police Forensics.

He said that ten people were arrested while , ten locations were searched and an approximate of 100 kgs of heroin was seized in the operation.

Police Commissioner Hameed is currently at the Global Security Forum 2021 taking place in Doha, Qatar.

Police have conducted similar successful operations in the past with recently stopping Iranian vessels on two separate occasions smuggling 50 kg of drugs and 100 kgs of drugs.
