Financial Committee of the Parliament has passed a budget of MVR 90.3 million for the next year.
The Committee made the decision under the advisement of the Ministry of Finance after reviewing the proposed budget by the Auditor General's Office.
The Audit Office proposed a recurrent budget of MVR 63 million along with MVR 55 million to develop the new Audit Office building under the Public Sector Investment totaling over MVR 118 million for the year 2022.
However, changes were made to the budget after discussions with the Finance Ministry.
And so, the recurrent budget was reduced to MVR 60 million along with a reduced MVR 30 million to develop the new Audit Office building.
At the Committee meeting today, the proposition of passing the budget with the amendments was made by the MP for Hulhudhoo constituency, Ilyas Labeeb.
He proposed the recurrent spending budget of MVR 60,315,293 along with the MVR 30 million for the development of the new building totaling the budget to MVR 90,315,293.
The decision was supported by the MP for Hanimaadhoo constituency, Abdul-Gafoor Moosa. And so, a budget of MVR 90.3 has been passed for the Audit Office next year.
