The court ruling to compensate for the death of the Bangladeshi national, Raushan Jian, who was killed by a cement bag that fell from a construction side as she was walking on the sidewalk, has been appealed at.the High Court.

Media Official of the High Court, Ameen Faisal has confirmed to ONE Online that W Construction has appealed the ruling against them to pay MVR 4.5 million as compensation for her death.

A case was filed against W Construction in 2019 to get compensation for financial and psychological anguish due to the wrongful death of Jian. In August 2021, the Civil Court verdict said that the negligence of the employees of W Construction led to the wrongful death and ruled to pay MVR 4.5 million as compensation.

The family initially filed for MVR 17.4 million in compensation.

However, the Civil Court rules that based on the documentation filed, the amount requested by the family cannot be acquired.
