Among the ambulances needed in the atolls, 20 of them have been brought in to the country.

The acquisition of 96 ambulances was contracted to the main trade company of the government, State Trading Organisation (STO) and signed among STO, Health Ministry and the Ministry of Finance on 10 July 2021. The agreements states that the ambulances have to be brought and handed over within six months.

Spokesperson of the President's Office, Mohamed Mabrook Azeez spoke to the press yesterday stating that 20 ambulances have been brought in so far and another 20 ambulances will be brought in next month.

He said that the hope is to bring 60 ambulances before the end of the year. However, the timeline to bring the remaining 36 ambulances is unclear at this time.
