Meemu Atoll Veyvah has been placed under monitoring status again.

Head of the Veyvah Health Center, Mariyam Nuha told ONE Online that the island was placed under monitoring this morning.

She said that two people who consulted at the island's flu clinic with symptoms tested positive for COVID-19 on 27 September and now, nine people have been identified to have had direct contact with those two people.

The island was most recently placed under monitoring on 28 August and the monitoring status was lifted on 12 September.

Nuha said that there is a possibility that the two people who tested positive most recently could have been direct contacts of someone who tested positive in the island earlier.

Currently there are 19 islands under monitoring in the Maldives due to COVID-19.
