From 209 samples collected to be tested for Influenza A, 68 have tested positive in Male' City during the month of September.

A statement issued by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Tuesday noted that flu cases and Influenza A cases have been on the rise recently. As such, they noted that during the month of September, there were 3,720 reported cases of the flu which is an increase of 60% in comparison to August.

HPA also noted that due to the increased number of flu cases, they have begun testing for Influenza A and that among 209 samples, 68 had tested positive. Hence, the agency had appealed for stricter safety measures to be safe from these.

They also noted that since Influenza A is spread the same way as the Covid-19, it is rather important to keep practicing all the health and safety measures that are currently being imposed to be safe from the Coronavirus. In addition to this, they appealed everyone with flu like symptoms to consult the Flu Clinic instead of going for an OPD consultation.

HPA also reiterated to wear masks out in public and to test for Covid-19 if flu like symptoms are present. They have also requested high-risk group to get both the Influenza vaccine and Covid-19 vaccine.
