Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has revealed that they completed training their officers to fly the helicopters donated by the Indian government.
The Indian Ambassador to the Maldives, Sunjay Sudhir had also revealed that MNDF officers were training to fly the helicopters and Dornier planes, and that some had already returned to the Maldives after completing their training.
MNDF Media Official confirmed that their officers have been trained in India and that they will begin flying the aircrafts soon.
The first helicopter from India was brought in during the tenure of former President Mohamed Nasheed. That helicopter is stationed at Addu with another stationed in Laamu Atoll. Both are currently operated by Indian army officers.
